Love, Joy, Peace...
First Lutheran Church Core Beliefs
The Bible is the inspired and inerrant word of God, the sole source for all we teach and believe about Him.
The Triune God consists of three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—yet is one God, who has loved you with an everlasting love.
That God the Father, who created you and all that exists, continues to provide everything you need to support your body and life.
God created us in His image, but we rebelled against Him when humanity fell into sin, thus damaging our relationship with God.
In Jesus Christ, who is both fully God and fully man in one person, the world's only Savior from sin, death, and the power of the devil was born. He died on the cross for the sins of the world and rose again so that all who believe in Him may have everlasting life.
The Holy Spirit, who is also true God, is sent by the Father and the Son to lead us into a saving relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. He works in our lives through the means of grace, which include the Bible, Baptism, and Holy Communion.
We are saved solely by God’s grace through Jesus. His grace is the undeserved love He has for you. Because of this grace, God sent His Son, Jesus, to be your Savior and to forgive all your sins.
Holy Baptism is a means of grace through which the Holy Spirit works in our lives to grant us new birth as Children of God.
Holy Communion is a sacred meal in which, with bread and wine, your Lord Jesus Christ regularly invites people to eat and drink His very body and blood, assuring everyone of the forgiveness of sins.
